Jacoby Shaddix doesn’t need side projects in addition to his work with Papa Roach.
The frontman recently chatted with Q101 and explained why he doesn’t have other projects:
“Here’s the reason why I don’t have side projects. The reason I don’t have side projects or do anything outside of the band essentially is because we get to like scratch every itch. We want to scratch with Papa Roach. It’s like if we want to write something metal, we can write something that feels metal. If we want to write something that’s pop-rock, we do that.”
Papa Roach Makes Diverse Music
Shaddix went on to talk about what makes Papa Roach set apart:
“What I mean is if I want to wrap throw down, spit some bars, I do that. So it’s like we get to scratch all the itches within Papa Roach and I feel that that’s kind of what really sets us apart in a sense is when we’re making records I want to make a record feel like a playlist.”
Shaddix Wants To Have A Stadium Tour
As can be seen from his words, the vocalist believes in the group’s potential. Not long ago, Jacoby joined an interview with Germany’s Rock Antenne and discussed Papa Roach’s goals. He shared what he believes they need to accomplish in their career:
“I think, eventually, at some point in our time, the stadium tour. At some point in our career. That’s the major goal. That’s like the endgame goal. I’ve been talking to some friends and other bands about these things because we saw Metallica, the Big Four, go out and do that. I’m like, ‘All right, who the f*ck is the next Big Four?’ I want to be a part of that, and that’s something for me. That is definitely a goal. I think that it’s something in our career we can pull off.”
In July 2023, during an interview with Lazer 103.3, Shaddix also likened Papa Roach to Metallica and suggested they might carry on their legacy. He sees bands like Foo Fighters, Korn, and Deftones in a similar position.
