In a recent tweet, Nita Strauss spoke on the relationship between musicians and stage crew.
A fan shared a quote by Henry Rollins, who said that artists should respect the stage crew, follow instructions, and not act like divas. The user tagged Alice Cooper and Strauss and wrote:
“I know this isn’t you guys, but how true is this? You’ll been doing this a long time. Just curious.”
The guitarist responded by saying:
“It’s a little of both! I think in this day and age no one has time for the rockstar bullsh*t, least of all the audience! It’s the stage manager’s job to make sure the fans -the reason we get to do this- have the best experience possible and get us on stage on time. So we listen.”
In the rest of her words, Strauss said having a caring and respectful crew is important. He wants a crew that values both the artist and the show. Band and crew spend more time together than with their families, so respect is essential.
Strauss’ Upcoming Plans
His good relationship with his stage manager, Drew, shows this. She thinks that great shows happen when the band and crew work together like a family. The guitarist is currently busy thinking about her next albums following last year’s ‘The Call of the Void.’
In a recent talk with Ultimate Guitar’s Justin Beckner, Strauss shared her plans for her next records. When asked if she wants to work with anyone special, the guitarist replied:
“I think, on the next record, I just want to go further in both directions. I would love to do something more mainstream; maybe it’s with someone like Demi [Lovato], which would be a dream come true or somebody like Pink. And then I want to do something heavy because the stuff that I listen to on my own time is pretty heavy.”
She also doesn’t want to wait five years between albums again. Touring has made it hard to come up with new ideas, but she plans to find time to be creative.
