In a new Instagram post, Jimmy Page commented on Steven Tyler’s vocals during a recent live performance.
In their show at the Hammersmith Apollo, London, the Black Crowes hosted Tyler as a special guest. Page shared some photos from the night and wrote in the caption:
“It was so good to see brothers Rich and Chris Robinson reunited and back beyond their best. I was also impressed by the band’s new guitarist, Nico Bereciartua, from Argentina, and also to hear Sven Pipien on bass once more.”
The guitarist continued, referring to Tyler’s performance:
“During the encore, it was a thrill to watch as Steven Tyler emerged from the side of the stage to team up with the band for a cover of Aerosmith’s ‘Mama Kin.’ It was all such great fun and well done to Rich, Chris, and the rest of the band for such an enjoyable and thrilling performance.”
Details Of Tyler’s Vocal Struggles
Soon after their Peace Out shows began, Aerosmith announced it had to be postponed until next year because Tyler injured his vocal cords badly during a performance on September 9. They initially thought he would need only 30 days to recover, but he needed more time. Aerosmith released a statement, saying:
“To our fans: Unfortunately, Steven’s vocal injury is more serious than initially thought. His doctor has confirmed that in addition to the damage to his vocal cords, he fractured his larynx, which requires ongoing care.”
Because his fracture needed more time to heal, the band announced they had to delay the rest of the tour until next year:
“He is receiving the best medical treatment available to ensure his recovery is swift, but given the nature of a fracture, he is being told patience is essential. As a result, all the currently scheduled Peace Out shows must be postponed to sometime in 2024, with new dates to be announced as soon as we know more.”
The Rocker’s Words On His Feelings
The singer also wrote in a statement:
“‘I am heartbroken to not be out there with Aerosmith, my brothers, and the incredible Black Crowes, rocking with the best fans in the world. I promise we will be back as soon as we can!’ – Love, Steven.”
In November 2023, Tyler was back in the studio with Aerosmith, but there was no update on the tour. He mentioned in an Instagram post that they were remixing some classic songs. In February 2024, Tyler appeared at his charity event and spoke about his recovery, saying his throat had improved but wasn’t fully healed. Later in April, Aerosmith announced new show dates with the Black Crowes as the opening act. Their gigs start on September 20 and wrap up with a February 26 show in Buffalo, N.Y.
