Frances Bean Cobain’s Mother’s Day message stirred speculation about Courtney Love feud rumors.
Her Instagram stories included a birthday message for her husband’s father, Tony Hawk, and a Mother’s Day message for her grandmother and her aunt. Still, Frances left Courtney out of her stories. She shared photos with her grandmother and her aunt, writing:
“Happy heavenly Mother’s Day to the best mom I could’ve asked for. My grandma was the living embodiment of unconditional love. The most important things I learned through her was to not be hardened by the world no matter how hard being in the world can feel, to laugh with the full force of your body & to appreciate the small things for they are what make life worth living.”
What Were Frances’ Following Words?
Her words for her aunt, Kim, were as follows:
“Special shout out to my mom sister auntie Kim who is sweetest, most animal lovin’, motorcycle ridin’, favorite travel buddy & one of my best friends. How lucky we are to have found each other in this lifetime!”
Cobain also wrote a message to celebrate the birthday of her husband, Riley Hawk’s father:
“Happy birthday, Tony Hawk. Being a part of your family is the most special & fun! How you show up for the people in your life is by far your greatest achievement! The world is better because you’re you!”
Courtney And Frances Have Had A Rocky Relationship
Courtney and Frances’ relationship was rocky, with Frances disagreeing with many of her mother’s choices. One such disagreement was over publishing Cobain’s journals after his death. Despite Love and others believing it would help fans understand Cobain, Frances felt it invaded his privacy. She said in an earlier interview:
“I don’t look through his journals. It feels too intimate. I am really regretful that my mom put them out there. I know it was her way of trying to contribute his personal thoughts, and I know that people really want to know that. I can’t imagine being dead and having people know my intimate thoughts — what an invasion of privacy. I don’t think it is merited, especially since in his art, he decided not to put out that thinking. It is a different thing to get to know him through this art, a deliberate public extension of himself.”
Cobain has talked openly about her strained relationship with Kurt and Courtney in various interviews over the years. In 2019, she expressed feeling guilty about inheriting her father’s wealth because she didn’t know him well.
