The ‘Griselda’ star graces the cover of this year’s Beautiful Issue
may have decided to not have more children but she can’t wait to be a grandma someday.
The Griselda star, 51, who is mom to her only child, Manolo, 32, from her high school sweetheart ex-husband, even knows what she wants to be called.
“Abuela,” she tells PEOPLE in this week’s cover story. “I think I’ll be a fun grandmother.”

And she’s already getting some practice by dog-sitting for her son.
“On the weekends, he just drops his dog at my house,” Vergara explains. “And I used to drop him at my mom’s house during the weekend so that I could at least go out every once in a while.”
Vergara, who had her son at 19, now appreciates how close they are now. “It is great that I had him young because now I’m going to be 52 and he’s 32,” she says. “I wish I was older sometimes because I would’ve been more mature, more prepared to be a mother, but that was what I got and what happened. But it is fun because I kind of grew up together with my son.”
The actress says she loves “everything” about motherhood.
“It’s an experience that’s unique,” she adds. “It changes you and it’s very rewarding and gives you a lot of headaches too.”
The alum has been honest about her decision to and how that became an issue in her seven-year marriage to actor . (The two in July and by February.)
“There’s things in life that might sound like good ideas, but they’re not,” she explains. “I was a mother already. I know what it means to be a good mother or to try to be the best mother that you can, and that takes a lot of sacrifices, takes a lot of energy.”
