David Gilmour recently joined Uncut for a conversation about his new solo album, ‘Luck and Strange.’ During the interview, he shared his opinions on a possible hologram show for Pink Floyd. Gilmour shared his conditions:
“If someone came up with all the money and all the brilliant ideas – and then once we’ve agreed to a series of very, very difficult and onerous conditions – I’d say, ‘Yeah, OK.’”
Gilmour also expressed his feelings about ‘ABBA Voyage’:
“If you were a determined ABBA fan, you might enjoy it. I thought the images of them were sort of OK, but they weren’t ever going to convince me it was real. If you’re down the sort of mosh pit end of the thing and it’s all going on, it’s probably great. The best moment for me was when the live band played a song [‘Does Your Mother Know’] on their own.”
Can Gilmour Create Pink Floyd’s Hologram Shows Without Roger Waters?
Former Pink Floyd bandmates, Roger Waters and David Gilmour, are known to have personal and business-related conflicts with each other. David’s latest comments on hologram shows bring back the question of who has the right to decide Pink Floyd’s business decisions.
Even though Waters left Pink Floyd, he still has a say in the band’s business matters. Last year, the reports revealed that the band was trying to close a $500 million catalog sale deal. However, the deal was unsuccessful due to the conflict between Gilmour and Waters. The possible buyers explained their concerns:
“One bidder for the catalog reportedly said the strained relationship between Waters and David Gilmour had made it impossible to come to an agreement. Another claimed they may never be able to close a deal, even if a buyer were chosen, as the band never need an excuse to disagree.”
If David decides to go for an ABBA Voyage-style hologram event, he might possibly receive a rejection from Waters once again. In the meantime, Gilmour released the first song from his new album, ‘Luck and Strange.’
