In a new interview with Billboard, Nancy Wilson revealed how ‘flexible’ Heart was. She explained that they could be either a Led Zeppelin cover band or a comedy routine band if they wanted to:
“What I really love about Heart and miss about Heart is the flexibility, musically, inside of the band itself. If we wanted to, we could be a Led Zeppelin cover band. Or if we wanted to, we could be a total comedy routine band. We could do all kinds of amazing covers of stuff, but this time, it’s going to be all us.”
Her sister and bandmate Ann Wilson added:
“We’re really trying to keep it pure. The whole idea is to do something we have not done before… just a whole set of Heart music from different eras of the band.”
Heart Is Working On New Music
Heart is preparing for their first tour in five years, and they even hope to write new music during that period.
They don’t have any plans about it now, but they have a new song in the works called ‘Roll the Dice.’ The track is written with their longtime friend Sue Ennis. Ann says it’s still a bit of a work in progress. In her words, Nancy kicked it off when she and Ennis got together ‘just to write some songs.’
There aren’t any plans for ‘Roll the Dice’ beyond performing it at shows. Nancy said she’s been digging through the band’s archives and listening to unreleased stuff from their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame days. It seems that Heart may drop those songs as well.
