Nobody 2 finally has an official first look, several years after Bob Odenkirk beat up bad guys in the hit action film from 2021. After a former assassin turned family man, Hutch Mansell (Odenkirk) unleashed his unique skillset to protect his family last time around, the upcoming sequel will see him back in action and in the limelight. With a few new faces and an acclaimed director behind the camera, Nobody 2 already seems like a bigger and more ambitious endeavor.
Courtesy of Empire, a first-look of Odenkirk as Hutch has been unveiled, revealing the former assassin bloodied up once again and wielding a submachine gun. In Nobody 2, Hutch will once again find himself battling bad guys after being forced out of retirement in the first film. The ending of Nobody teased that Hutch would again be pulled into his former life and on a new mission. Although plot details remain scarce, it already seems that Nobody 2 is bringing an entirely new energy and visual style to the action franchise.
The director of Nobody 2,Timo Tjahjanto (The Night Comes for Us), who took over the action franchise from previous filmmaker Ilya Naishuller, teased how the sequel will find its protagonist back in full swing. Moreover, Tjahjanto reveals that the upcoming sequel will “do away with the whole drab, gloomy factory/warehouse feel of the first film,” instead injecting more color and life to the film’s visual language. His words:
“Now that he’s back at it in full throttle, how does his family react to this beast? You’ll see a lot of the questions that fathers and husbands ask — ‘How do they react to this other side of me who’s constantly hustling and working for the family?’ It’s gonna be quite a journey. We do away with the whole drab, gloomy factory/warehouse feel of the first film, and make it much more summery and colourful.”
‘Nobody 2’ is Off to a Good Start
Nobody 2 sees the return of Bob Odenkirk along with Christopher Lloyd as David, Connie Nielsen as Becca, and RZA as Harry. New cast members include Colin Hanks, Sharon Stone, and John Ortiz. The Basic Instinct star will be playing a villain, but further details of her character are unknown, as well as the rest of the new additions. Tjahjanto compared her villainous role to another antagonist from a very different film, teasing that Nobody 2 is flipping the script the second time around.
“Her performance reminds me a lot of Ben Kingsley in ‘
Sexy Beast.’
She is definitely an alpha female. She doesn’t take shit from anybody. This is a villain that is unique, and she’s making this character completely batshit crazy.”
