Selena Gomez loves a shimmery red-carpet moment just as much as she loves a preppy schoolgirl street style look. And with her latest ensemble, she proved she can have them both.
The actor was a vision in black as she glided onto the inky-black carpet at the 2024 Governors Awards in Los Angeles last night. For the evening, she pulled out a look from Ralph Lauren—a black floor-length gown entirely composed of glimmering rectangular-shaped beads that shone like sequins and were arranged in a woven-like pattern. The dress had a mock neck layered over a crisp white collar. The white dress-shirt-inspired collar was mimicked at the sleeves, which were folded over and gave the illusion that Gomez wore her black gown like a suit, over a white button-up.
Gomez continued the black-tie theme with a business-glam hairdo: a sleek, side-parted bun with wavy strands of hair slicked down onto her forehead. Finally, she added some romance to the ensemble with a set of leaf-shaped silver earrings dripping in diamonds, from Boucheron, plus some diamond rings to match.
The Rare Beauty founder wore delicate makeup—rosy blush and a natural glossy lip—to counteract her striking fit.
Gomez has been on a red-carpet style streak while promoting her new film, Emilia Pérez, which she stars in with Zoe Saldaña and Karla Sofía Gascón, who plays Emilia. The movie, about a notorious cartel boss who transitions into living as a woman, is now streaming on Netflix.
