Scott Gorham talked about his current musical activities and plans in a recent discussion with TotalRock.
“Well, I’m not really working on anything really solid right now,” he said, adding, “I would really like to get back out, put just an absolute kick-a** Thin Lizzy band together and either tour England again or Europe or something like that.”
Gorham joined Thin Lizzy in 1974 and played on ten of their top-selling albums including ’Jailbreak,’ ’Johnny The Fox,’ ’Bad Reputation,’ and ’Live And Dangerous.’
In 2013, he formed Black Star Riders with his Thin Lizzy bandmates to create new music under a new brand. The original lineup featured Ricky Warwick, Damon Johnson, Marco Mendoza, and Jimmy DeGrasso.
Black Star Riders announced the guitarist’s departure in late 2021, saying he had plans with Thin Lizzy.
“We are very sad to see Scott go, but we discussed a very heavy world touring commitment on the new record and Scott decided he wanted to concentrate just on Thin Lizzy — and being the legend he is, none of us can blame him,” Warwick explained in a statement back then.
Gorham himself later clarified to ’The Hook Rocks!’ podcast that he wasn’t ready to tour and record with Black Star Riders right after the pandemic. So, he turned his focus to Thin Lizzy.
“There are so many really great musicians who want to be in this band called Thin Lizzy,” the guitarist noted in 2022. “They’ve listened to the songs their whole life, and to be able to get up on a stage and for real play the songs…”
“It’s not an easy thing as you would think to pick who’s going to do it. It really is picking the right person for the right tour when we do Thin Lizzy,” he added.
Most recently, Gorham started exploring his artistic skills, introducing six new art pieces on his website, Scott Gorham World.
