There are rumors that Axl Rose might replace Brian Johnson on the new AC/DC tour, but fans aren’t sure.
AC/DC is reportedly planning a North American tour in 2025. Former Skid Row singer Sebastian Bach mentioned that at least ten shows are planned for April and May. He also confirmed Rose’s involvement, but it’s unclear how much he’ll be part of the tour.
Rose filled in for Johnson during AC/DC’s ‘Rock or Bust’ tour in 2016 due to Johnson’s hearing issues. Last week, an AC/DC concert for April 11, 2025, was posted on their Facebook page, then removed. Bach’s comments seem to confirm the date was real.
“NO!! No he’s not,” Mitch Lafon commented to the news in a post on X. “I hope Brian is with them. Axl absolutely nailed it when he filled in for him though,” a fan also said.
“Hope not, love them both but not a good fit,” another one wrote. One other person added, “Honestly. I wish they wouldn’t do this tour. Brian’s voice is gone & he’s really struggling, there’s no Malcolm, and Angus is just tired. Call me vain, but I’d rather see one of my fav bands retire while they’ve still got it rather than be lame & struggling.”
AC/DC just finished their successful ‘Power Up’ European tour in August 2024, which was their first with their new lineup. The band included Brian Johnson, Angus and Stevie Young, drummer Matt Laug, and bassist Chris Chaney.
However, longtime drummer Phil Rudd, who returned for the 2020 ‘Power Up’ album, was missing due to legal issues. Rudd’s 2015 conviction for threatening to kill someone and drug possession kept him from touring with the band. It’s unclear if he’ll be part of the upcoming tour.
Reports say AC/DC may announce tour dates soon, possibly on Tuesday. Lafon also hinted that the opening act could be a female-fronted band. Some fans guessed it could be The Pretty Reckless. More details on the North American tour are expected soon.
