Phil Collins’ son Nic Collins just released a new album with The Effect. However, with the release, Collins’ time with the band has also come to an end.
The drummer took to Instagram to both announce the release of the album and that he left the band. “The Effect’s self-titled album is out now and available worldwide on your favorite streaming service. A massive thank you to everyone who was involved in the making of this album and for making it possible,” he wrote.
The rocker added, “Unfortunately, this comes along with the announcement that I have parted ways [with] The Effect. It has been a fun and very rewarding project to be a part of and I’m proud of my contribution on the band’s album. I had a great time collaborating and playing shows with Trev, Em, and Steve and I wish the guys all the best in the future. Thank you to anybody who has supported and followed the band. Your support does not go unnoticed and I’m very grateful.”
The drummer’s bandmate and Steve Lukather’s son Trev also shared a separate statement about both the release and the breakup. “Super proud of this album. I appreciate that the guys trusted me to produce and steer the ship when the talent in this band is top tier. It’s a seat that I don’t ever take lightly. It was one of the easiest albums to make vibe-wise,” he said of the record. “Everyone was routing for each other every step of the way. It was an absolute blast to make. Members of this project are constantly pulled into other projects because we are creatives that love to work with as many amazing creatives as possible and makes it extremely tough for everyone to commit to touring and what is needed to promote this album fully. A band is really hard to keep together in this situation because we all have to make a living and in a world of constant demand for content, it’s almost impossible since we all live in different states.”
Lukather revealed that the singer Emmett Stang also left the band along with Collins. “Unfortunately, Nic left the band to pursue his band in Miami and Em had to leave due to financial reasons. I’ve been producing a lot for others which keeps me home and I’ve been playing shows with other amazing artists filing the spot so the universe drifted us all in different directions. I’ll be making an announcement soon about 2025 and touring plans so be assured you’ll hear The Effect music live next year.”
It’s unclear whether the band will continue to make new music, perform live, or bring in new members to keep going. Either way, we wish them the best of luck.
