The real estate market in Los Angeles is well and truly wild — take it from someone who can barely afford to rent here. And Netflix‘s newest series is about to milk it for all it is worth. In a newly released trailer for No Good Deed, the Lisa Kudrow and Ray Romano-starring project from Liz Feldman (who created and showran the popular series Dead To Me), we see just how comedic, and maybe even deadly, it is to try and buy a home in the city of angels.
“When Lydia (Kudrow) and Paul (Romano) decide to move on from their empty nest to forge a new life, they list their gorgeous 1920s Spanish-style villa located in one the most desirable neighborhoods in Los Angeles — and the real estate frenzy begins,” the official synopsis explains. “Multiple families all race to buy what they believe to be their dream house, convinced it will fix all of their very different problems. But as Lydia and Paul know all too well, sometimes the home of your dreams can be a true nightmare.”
“As they struggle to hide the dark and dangerous secrets that linger inside their longtime home,” the synopsis continues, “Paul and Lydia begin to realize that the only way they’ll escape the past is to finally face it.” Needless to say: we’re locked in.
What Is No Good Deed About?
The series comes from Emmy-winning creator and showrunner Liz Feldman, and is said to focus on the highs and lows of searching for a safe, happy home—and just how far people are willing to go to protect themselves and their loved ones in the process. Oh, and whatever this big, dark, bombastic secret at the heart of this seemingly happy home is (because why not?), is sure to complicate the search for a buyer, and/or make the lives of our sellers a total disaster. But, truly, is there anything more enjoyable to watch than the calamitous misfortunes of people wealthy enough to own a dreamy home such as this in Los Angeles? In this economy, it’s all we’ve got.
The series cast is incredibly impressive, too. Also starring Linda Cardellini, O-T Fagbenle, Abbi Jacobson, Denis Leary, Poppy Liu (who recently spoke to MovieWeb about the show), Teyonah Parris, Matt Rogers, and Luke Wilson, No Good Deed feels primed to tickle the funny bone of anyone who’s ever tried to buy a home in an increasingly unruly housing market — and will no doubt cause a bit of schadenfreude-ian glee for anyone who feels deeply priced out of ever owning a place of their own (which is probably most of us, let’s be real).

The two co-stars spoke to MovieWeb about No Good Deed, their highly anticipated dark comedy on Netflix that features a handful of iconic performers.
The series is set to drop on Netflix on December 12, and will mark the return of Feldman to the streamer following the series finale of her last acclaimed, dark comedy series Dead To Me. The series will reunite Feldman and one of her Dead To Me co-leads, Linda Cardellini, and promises to bring the same sort of audacious energy to the screen. Feldman’s previous writing credits include writing on Blue Collar TV, The Ellen Degeneres Show, and 2 Broke Girls. She also created the series One Big Happy, which starred Elisha Cuthbert and Nick Zano, and told the story of a lesbian and her straight guy friend who decide to have a baby together.
Until the series drops on December 12, we’re going to try and let our good deeds go unpunished.
