It’s no secret that the “Today” show anchors are foodies at heart. The group loves to chat about their favorite fast food orders, late-night snacks, and go-to meals. Not to mention, Savannah Guthrie and Al Roker, who have both been AllRecipes Cover Stars and shared with us their best cooking tips and favorite recipes. But they aren’t the only anchors who like to open up about what’s in their kitchen.
Hoda Kotb has always been candid about her food choices, whether it’s her love for Fritos and French onion dip or her preference for grilled romaine in Caesar Salad. Recently, Kotb caught up with our sister brand, EatingWell, to discuss the wellness retreat she hosted with “Today” in Texas. The discussion mainly focused on her takeaways from the event, but we did get insight into some of the TV personality’s favorite snacks—and they might just be something your pantry is already stocked with, too.
Hoda Kotb’s Go-To Store-Bought Snacks
In the interview, Kotb revealed that there’s a specific protein-filled snack that helps her power through each day. “We eat Vermont meat sticks like they’re going out of style. We have them on an Amazon recurring order,” she says.
It’s no surprise that Kotb is a fan of Vermont Smoke & Cure’s hand-crafted meat sticks. The East Coast-based company uses premium meat and real spices like garlic and ground black pepper in its products. Plus, the lunchbox-friendly snack is available in a wide range of flavors such as Chipotle, BBQ, and Hickory Smoked. It also has beef, turkey, and pork products to choose from so there’s an option for everyone.
Besides meat sticks, Kotb listed a few more snack aisle must-haves. “We also eat very regular snacks, like Pirate’s Booty, pretzels, and Cheez-Its,” the Oklahoma native says. She adds that her family also loves guacamole and cheese. What about sweet cravings? It’s homemade banana ice cream she likes to make by blending frozen bananas with half and half.
It sounds like there’s always something tasty cooking in the Kotb household. The anchor is expected to end her nearly 20-year run at “Today” early next year, but until then we can only hope she shares a few more of her relatable gems before she goes.
