We are still waiting to find out which actor will be chosen to take over the mantle of James Bond from Daniel Craig, but fans already know who they want to see slip into the iconic tuxedo. A recent casting update revealed that producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson are looking to give the role to a man in his 30s (“Whiteness is not a given”) who is committed to a decade of 007 adventures. Following the update, fans of the beloved action franchise have taken to social media to make their feelings clear: they want Man of Steel star Henry Cavill.
“Henry Cavill the only correct answer here. How is this not obvious to them,” said X/Twitter user @lamontcraynston, with @TalkingLizardv2 adding, “We want Henry Cavill as the next bond.” another fan of The Witcher star, @ChesnoidGaming, thinks “Henry Cavill was born to play Bond.” And they are far from the only one to think so, with Cavill trending quickly following the latest insight into the casting of the next 007.
Unfortunately, there is the slight issue of Cavill being 41 years old, and thus outside the “man in his 30s” parameters. However, @Martles3 is hoping this won’t matter saying, “He may be two years outside the range they want, at 41 instead of in his 30’s, but I also agree with many others that Henry Cavill seems the best choice.”
The ones hoping and praying to see Henry Cavill suit up as James Bond are far from alone. Recent research was conducted by Betway Casino and, based on analysis of “Google searches, articles, article engagement and Reddit mentions for 31 potential actors” reportedly being considered or discussed for the role, Cavill takes the #1 spot. The actor was also considered for Bond back when Casino Royale was being put together, so it would be a surprise, even taking his age into consideration, if the producers didn’t have Cavill’s name written on a white board somewhere.
Who Else Do James Bond Fans Want To See Suit up as 007?
But Henry Cavill is not the only name being mentioned by 007 fans. The likes of The Gentlemen star Theo James, Kraven the Hunter and Bullet Train star Aaron Taylor-Johnson, MCU and The Wire actor Idris Elba, and Monkey Man’s Dev Patel also find themselves in the mix.
“If it’s not Cavil then Theo James ..that’s it,” said @Henry_M, with @thatseguy adding that Rebel Ridge star “Aaron Pierre would be awesome in that role.” Meanwhile, @sonicshifts wonders “Why are they looking? Aaron-Taylor Johnson is the obvious pick,” with @embarrassed45 hoping that Pierce Brosnan might be tempted to return, saying, “Hold my beer old bond comes out of retirement for one last heist.”
