Christopher Nolan seems like the kind of legendary director that can get any actor he wants, and he’s picking out the standout stars from the MCU for his new mysterious movie. While your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man (Tom Holland) was the first person on the call sheet for Nolan’s next project, he’s being joined by the beloved Black Panther and A Quiet Place: Day One star, Lupita Nyong’o. Following the tremendous success of Oppenheimer, fans are eager to see what Nolan has in store next. Whatever the movie turns out to be, expect it to be filled with the A-List talent the director has become renowned for collecting.
Per THR, Lupita Nyong’o has officially been cast in Christopher Nolan’s untitled next movie. She joins the already phenomenal cast, which includes Holland, Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, and Zendaya. Of the cast so far, only Matt Damon and Anne Hathaway have worked with Christopher Nolan before. Damon played Leslie Groves in Oppenheimer and the treacherous Mann in Interstellar. Meanwhile, Hathaway joined Damon in Interstellar as Brand, and played Selina Kyle, a.k.a. Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises. Holland and Zendaya are the newcomers to Nolan’s trusted troupe of troubadours, but both have more than enough blockbuster experience to hold their own on screen.
Nyong’o is perhaps best known for playing the spy Nakia in Black Panther and its sequel, Wakanda Forever. The actress has had an incredible run over the last few years. She most recently voiced Roz in DreamWorks’ future classic, The Wild Robot, and joined the silent horror franchise A Quiet Place in Day One. Fans might also remember Lupita Nyong’o appeared in the new Star Wars trilogy as Maz Kanata, the alien who oversaw smuggling and illegal trade, and gave Rey Luke Skywalker’s lightsaber.
Christopher Nolan’s New Movie Is a Complete Mystery
Aside from its already outstanding cast, almost nothing is known about Christopher Nolan’s new film. The director is renowned for his secrecy — he famously asks potential actors to read the script in person with him in the room to prevent any leaks and get a first-hand reaction. However, this hasn’t stopped the internet from compiling hundreds of rumors about the project. While most of these are falsified, several rumors have reportedly come from “inside sources,” and offer widely varying information. Some believe that the new film will be another historical movie, this time with a spy/thriller espionage plot.

The Batman sequel would surely not be the same without Heath Ledger’s Oscar-winning performance.
The most popular and interesting rumor suggests that Christopher Nolan is finally entering the horror genre. The “report” claims that the movie will be a vampire horror story set in the 1920s. While this was likely made up by people who are still confused by Inception‘s ending (it’s surprisingly straight forward), it’s hard to argue that a Christopher Nolan horror movie would be an interesting concept. The closest Nolan has come to including a jump scare in one of his films came when audiences were deafened by the Trinity Test scene in Oppenheimer.
Christopher Nolan’s new movie is currently set to release on July 17, 2026.
