In a new interview with Loud TV, Sepultura guitarist Andreas Kisser shared his non-music-related plans once the band’s farewell tour is done.
When asked if he thinks he will spend more time in the future talking about the importance of palliative care and organizing events to raise awareness and funds to support the development of hospice and palliative care, Andreas responded with, “I hope so. I will have more time, definitely, to put on that, without Sepultura, without all the touring.”
He clarified that he would still be working on music. “Of course, I’m gonna keep working with music, different bands or whatever, different situations, soundtracks, or who knows. I’m still studying music a lot, especially acoustic guitar. I have so many different ideas. But I don’t wanna make any decisions now. I wanna enjoy what I’m doing today, hence live in the present. But just [be] aware of the possibilities, [so] when it’s time to decide I’ll be a little more ready to know what to do.” He added, “But it’s great that we’re on this [farewell] tour now and enjoying the moment. It’s fantastic.”
The guitarist also admitted that his wife’s passing in 2022 influenced the decision to go on a farewell tour.
Sepultura is currently on their farewell tour to celebrate the band’s 40th anniversary. The tour is expected to run into 2026. In an earlier interview, Kisser discussed the tour and revealed plans for a final Sepultura show in São Paulo, Brazil, sometime in 2026. He also admitted that he invited the band’s founding members, Max and Igor Cavalera, to join them on stage for that special farewell performance.
“We like to invite all the ex-members, including the brothers, Cavalera brothers,” Kisser told Moshpit Passion. “Let’s see what happens. We’re working towards that, to have a big celebration for the fans.”
Kisser went on to address the tensions that caused the Cavalera brothers to leave Sepultura years ago: “We don’t care who is right or wrong. We’re never gonna get to that point. [Laughs] We have different point of views and different perspectives about same historical events and stuff. So let’s jam, let’s have a good time for the fans, for us, for ourselves, and really close this amazing 43 years or 44, whatever it’s gonna be at the time, in peace with ourselves…”
Max left the band in 1996 and went on to form Soulfly, while Igor left in 2006, and the brothers started their Cavalera Conspiracy project.
Even though Max and Igor parted ways with Sepultura, the brothers are still celebrating the band’s musical legacy. They are touring classic Sepultura material and re-recording some of the band’s early albums.
