The White Lotus has not yet aired Season 3, but creator Mike White has already pitched his concept for Season 4 to HBO. According to Deadline, HBO have not made any kind of official announcement about wanting to continue the popular anthology series, but considering the huge fan base the series has gained over two seasons, it would be foolish to bet against a renewal being on the horizon.
The White Lotus debuted in 2021, instantly earning itself critical acclaim and a strong viewership. With a combination of dark social satire, exotic locations, and plenty of drama to keep audiences enthralled, the show’s premise is not to stay with the same characters for long and switch things up every season – hence its anthology tag.
According to Deadline’s report, Chairman and CEO of HBO and Max Content Casey Bloys revealed recently that while he was out in Thailand, where Season 3 was filmed, White made his pitch for what could come next for the show. While it seems there has been no official green light yet, Bloys was said to have noted that “if White wants to do a fourth season, HBO will do a fourth season.” Considering White was the one making the pitch, we can probably expect something official to be announced early next year when Season 3 debuts.
What is The White Lotus Season 3 About?
Following the Hawaii and Sicily-based previous seasons, The White Lotus Season 3 is heading to Thailand. White said that his reasoning for choosing the Asian location for the new story was to allow him to embrace the spirituality and philosophy of Eastern culture. As is the nature of an anthology, Season 3 will see very few returning characters – only Natasha Rothwell, who played Belinda in Season 1, is set to reprise her role this time around – and that makes room for a host of new stars to join the franchise. These include Patrick Schwarzenegger, Aimee Lou Wood, Lalisa Manobal, Jason Isaacs, Sarah Catherine Hook, and Leslie Bibb.
As for the plot of the new season, there has been little revealed outside the short snippet seen in Max’s 2025 teaser, which was released on November 11 (and can be seen above). However, White teased what fans can expect when speaking to HBO. He said:
“The first season kind of highlighted money, and then the second season is sex. I think the third season would be maybe a satirical and funny look at death and Eastern religion and spirituality. It feels like it could be a rich tapestry to do another round at The White Lotus.”

Season 3 of The White Lotus is expected to debut early in 2025, but as yet does not have a set release date. It seems that there is a good chance that the show will continue to be a huge hit for HBO, and it is hard to see a scenario where Season 4 is not put into production as soon as possible.
