Fans have a million questions after The Penguin‘s final episode, but the biggest elephant in the room surrounds the future of Cristin Milioti’s Sofia Falcone (aka Gigante). According to executive producer Matt Reeves, Sofia could have a long future in The Batman universe, and, most excitingly, her own spin-off show. Despite being the titular character, Oz Cobb is overshadowed by Milioti’s phenomenal performance as the daughter of Carmine Falcone. Her turn as the villain has been praised as Emmy-worthy, and fans are desperate for more.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Reeves cautiously said our wish might be granted in the future. “Everything is on the table. But at the end of the day, we feel like there are more stories to tell in this world,” Reeves said about more seasons and spin-offs from The Penguin. Like audiences and critics, Reeves had high praise for Milioti’s performance in the show, and the EP knew the character would become a fan favorite. He expressed:
“Cristin is so incredible. That was so personal to Lauren’s vision that digging into [Sofia’s story] further is a very exciting prospect. But where it will go, truly, we don’t know yet. I’ve found that when you take on projects, they start to have a life of their own. You discover certain things within them. We knew the way Cristin realized the character was incredible as soon as the dailies started coming in.”
Sofia Falcone survives the events of The Penguin, having been sent back to Arkham Asylum at the hands of Oz Cobb. During her new incarceration, Sofia is sent a letter from her half-sister, Selena Kyle, leading fans to believe she could appear in The Batman: Part II. Reeves remained tight-lipped about confirming the character’s role in the sequel, saying, “I don’t want to get into that right now.” However, a Sofia Falcone spin-off show is something that could be on the cards at HBO. Reeves teased:
“To see them connect to Sofia, of course, makes us think,
‘There’s more there.’
So again, I can’t tell you what it is. We don’t know yet. We’re just starting to figure that out.”
The Batman: Part II Is Bruce Wayne’s Story
Batman movies have a tendency to sideline the Caped Crusader in favor of his villains. When you think of Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy, what springs to mind first? Christian Bale’s Bruce Wayne, or Heath Ledger’s Joker? Fortunately, The Batman managed to avoid that unfortunate trope, making Robert Pattinson’s Batman just as interesting as Paul Dano’s Riddler.

The Penguin Season 2 Gets Promising Update After Devastating Finale
Will we get a second season of The Penguin? The creatives behind the HBO hit have made some promising comments following the devastating finale.
Reeves said The Batman: Part II (set to release in 2026) will continue the new trend. “The movie is very much a Batman movie, so its focus is on Batman and Bruce,” he said. No plot details have been revealed yet, although the script has been completed. Whoever the main villain will be in The Batman Part II, Reeves said The Batman trilogy will always focus on Bruce’s campaign against his growing rogue’s gallery. He continued:
“It’s very much taking Rob Pattinson through this next leg and how the Rogues Gallery fits into that.”
