Linkin Park premiered another new song during their latest world tour. The band debuted a new scream-heavy track titled ‘Casualty.’
The performance took place on November 8 at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. It was the band’s final North American show of the year.
The song was played midway through the band’s set on November 8, and Mike Shinoda teased the crowd that new co-vocalist Emily Armstrong was about to go wild on the mic. “Dallas gets to find out what happens when Em puts her screaming pants on.”
The band then dove into a chunky intro groove, with Shinoda and Armstrong trading growls on the line, “Something’s coming… it’s only a matter of time,” before launching into a high-energy, metallic double-time chorus.
The song and Shinoda’s energy got the fans’ stamp of approval. “Mike sounding better than ever, Emily getting to sing lyrics she wrote…what a song, what a performance,” a user commented. Another said: “It’s such a short song, but man, Mike’s energy! This is back in 2003 explosiveness!! Mike nailing some hardcore vocals is sick as freak.”
“Mike should do those aggressive vocals more often,” another user added.
In addition to the new track, they played a deep cut live for the first time, with a special guest appearance.
Midway through the show, they invited Page Hamilton of Helmet to join them onstage for ‘All for Nothing’ from their 2014 album ‘The Hunting Party.’ Helmet was one of the opening acts of the night, along with Bad Omens. Hamilton is featured on the studio version of ‘All for Nothing.’ The rocker joined the band for the live rendition, as Mike Shinoda explained to the crowd that they had never had the chance to perform it together before.
The rockers’ new album ‘From Zero’ will be out this Friday.
