Sleep Token kicked off their European arena tour on Tuesday, November 5th, in Zurich, Switzerland, but they were without two of their members.
Before the concert, the UK-based band announced that both their bassist, III, and guitarist, IV, had fallen ill and would not be performing that night. Instead of canceling the show, the band decided to continue by using pre-recorded tracks.
“Zurich, following the earlier news of IV’s illness, we regret to share that our brother III has now also fallen ill and will be unable to perform tonight,” the band wrote in a statement on social media.
“The show will go ahead as planned, using pre-recorded tracks from both III and IV, captured during our recent tour preparations. We always endeavour to avoid cancelling a Ritual unless completely unavoidable, and we hope this outcome is more acceptable to you than a last-minute cancellation. Thank you for your understanding and support through these unforeseen changes. Tonight, we perform for them, and for you,” they added.
Even with the last-minute change, Sleep Token stuck to their usual 16-song setlist, the same one they played as a full band during their spring North American tour.
The setlist for the Zurich show included seven songs from ‘Take Me Back to Eden,’ five from ‘This Place Will Become Your Tomb,’ and four from their debut album ‘Sundowning.’
There has been no update on whether III and IV are well enough to perform at the next show in France tonight.
