Garth Brooks is gearing up to release the next installment of his The Anthology series, The Anthology Part IV: Going Home.
The new hardbound book will document the years Brooks, 62, spent in Oklahoma with his three daughters — Taylor, 32, August, 30, and Allie, 28 — after announcing his retirement from touring in 2000. He returned to the road in 2014 when he launched a headlining tour with wife Trisha Yearwood.
“Those fourteen years of my life are the ones I’ll always remember. It was life at its best. I learned to be a dad, my girls got to know me, and I’d never for one second regret walking away from a career in order to find all of that,” the country singer, who shares his kids with ex-wife Sandy Mahl, said in a statement shared via his website.
The Anthology Part IV includes stories from Brooks, his friends and Yearwood, 60, whom he married in 2005. The new release also features six discs of music highlighting songs from The Lost Sessions and Blame It All on My Roots: Five Decades of Influences.
Brooks’ website notes that each volume of his Anthology series includes “never-before seen photos,” anecdotes from Brooks’ bandmates, collaborators, family and friends, and “multiple discs” of music,” including “previously unreleased material, live performances [and] demo versions.” The result is what Brooks refers to as “liner notes on steroids.”
The latest installment in Brooks’ Anthology series, which will be released on December 6, comes after the musician was accused of sexual assault and battery in October. A woman identified as “Jane Roe,” who said she worked as Brooks’ hairstylist and makeup artist, accused Brooks of raping her during a 2019 work trip.
Roe also alleged that Brooks repeatedly exposed his genitals and buttocks to her, discussed his sexual fantasies in front of her, sent her sexually explicit text messages and made “repeated remarks” about “having a threesome” with Yearwood.
Prior to the lawsuit, Brooks anonymously filed a complaint attempting to block Roe from repeating her allegations and vehemently denied her claims.
“Defendant’s allegations are not true,” Brooks’ filing claimed. “Defendant is well aware, however, of the substantial, irreparable damage such false allegations would do to Plaintiff’s well-earned reputation as a decent and caring person, along with the unavoidable damage to his family and the irreparable damage to his career and livelihood that would result if she made good on her threat to ‘publicly file’ her fabricated lawsuit.”
Roe’s attorneys called Brooks’ “efforts to silence” their client “nothing other than an act of desperation and attempted intimidation” in a statement shared with Us Weekly.
Brooks later filed a separate complaint alleging that he is the “victim of a shakedown” and accusing Roe of “intending to blackmail” him for “millions of dollars.” He claimed that his accuser originally “threatened” in a July 17 letter to “publicly file” her “fabricated allegations” unless he agreed to pay her.
Brooks identified Roe by name in the filing. The legal team for the accuser responded in a statement to Us at the time.
“Garth Brooks just revealed his true self. Out of spite and to punish, he publicly named a rape victim. With no legal justification, Brooks outed her because he thinks the laws don’t apply to him. On behalf of our client, we will be moving for maximum sanctions against him immediately,” attorneys Douglas H. Wigdor, Jeanne M. Christensen and Hayley Baker said.
Amid the controversy, Yearwood has stood by her husband. She shared an X photo of her singing with Brooks on stage at his still-ongoing residency last month with the caption, “Love One Another.”
“Trisha completely believes Garth and has complete faith that the allegations are false,” a source exclusively told Us last month. “She is supporting him 100 percent.”
A second insider added that Brooks is “trying to push forward and stay positive” as all he “cares about is his family and his fans.”
