In a new YouTube video, Justin Hawkins has reacted to Cradle Of Filth’s new song, ‘Malignant Perfection.’
While reacting to the song, The Darkness frontman touched on Dani Filth’s stage makeup and how it makes him look younger.
“One of the good things about that sort of stage look, you see that in a lot of Norwegian metal, people who are dismissive of such an aesthetic dismiss them as panda metallers or something, because there is a lot of black makeup in the eyes,” he explained. “But I absolutely love the way that looks and also completely ageless as well. It covers a multitude of sins. When Dani Filth is, let’s say he’s a vampire, a thousand years old, when he’s putting that makeup on, he’s always going to look the same. If he maintains his voice in the way he has done, there’s no reason to think that they won’t still be doing this in 200 years.”
Hawkins then shared his thoughts on the song. “I have to say, I did not know what to expect. But I think if you’re looking for something that’s fun, Halloweeny, scary, ridiculous as well, you can’t go wrong with Cradle Of Filth’s new song. This is awesome.”
Cradle Of Filth’s latest studio album ‘Existence Is Futile’ was released in October 2021. According to frontman Dani Filth, the wait for the follow-up album won’t be much longer.
“It’s a step on from the last record,” the frontman said in an interview with TotalRock just a few months before releasing their latest song. “Same production values, and the same producer, although we always approach it from a different way, so it does sound a lot different. I can’t go too much into it because no matter what I say, it’s not really gonna justify or do justice to the tracks on there.”
He went on to describe the album as aggressive, catchy, and with elements that remind fans of their ‘Dusk… And Her Embrace’ sound, and also mentioned the awaited collaboration with Ed Sheeran. “We’ve already done our collaborative track with Ed Sheeran, although that’ll be probably coming out on the special edition of the new album, but I can’t really talk much more about that, all legalities and what have you.”
While fans wait for the new album, they can see the band on tour. Cradle Of Filth is to perform in The Academy, Middle Abbey Street Dublin, Ireland tonight. After the show, they will hit the road for their next show in SWG3 Glasgow, United Kingdom. They will make stops in Germany, Denmark, Sweden, and Slovenia, before ending it on December 7 at Seraing, Belgium.
