In a new Instagram post, Mikkey Dee reacted strongly to rumors saying he was dead.
“NO! I AM NOT DEAD! I am very much alive and kicking, although angry as a MF!!!” the drummer wrote in his message. “How low can you go, you absolute pest of a human being!?”
He added, “This is so inappropriate and potentially harmful. Spreading rumors that I have died is wrong on so many levels. Let’s keep reporting these bastards and let’s put some pressure on Facebook to deal with this problem. //Mikkey.”
“P.S. I have marked the photos ‘Fake’ in red so not to spread the rumors further,” the musician lastly said.
Dee has been a member of Scorpions since 2016. At a recent press conference announcing Scorpions’ 60th-anniversary concert in Hannover, Germany next July, Mikkey Dee was asked how he joined Scorpions.
The rocker explained, “Well, I played with Motörhead, as you probably know, for close to 25 years. And unfortunately, Lemmy [Motörhead leader] passed away at the end of ’15. And then Matthias [Jabs, Scorpions guitarist] called in early ’16 and said, ‘Are you in Göteborg [Gothenburg, Sweden], Mikkey?’ I go, ‘Yeah.’”
He continued, “‘Can you come to Luxembourg tomorrow?’ [Laughs] Basically, that’s how it was. And I was basically gonna be standing in a little bit and helping out because James Kottak [then-Scorpions drummer] was battling a little bit of a health issue. But he did a great tour in Germany.”
“And I was basically just standing by at that time. And we did rehearse a little bit secretly learning a few [songs]. And then I finished off the year and here I am, and we’re going on the ninth year… Nine next year. But here we are and kicking a** like never before, I would say, and it’s been a great journey so far for me,” Dee noted about his time with Scorpions.
Scorpions’ Las Vegas Residency starts on February 27 and ends on March 11. Then, they will perform in Mexico City on March 15.
