After comments from the members that they didn’t have any more plans for new shows, Slayer has just announced their first reunion show for next year.
The Louder Than Life festival has announced that Slayer will perform in 2025 after the band’s set this year was canceled due to bad weather.
Slayer was originally scheduled to play at the festival on September 27. However, the entire day was canceled because of extreme weather caused by Hurricane Helene. That lineup included Anthrax, Evanescence, In This Moment, and others.
This show would have been Slayer’s second performance since ending their five-year retirement earlier this year. The band made their comeback at Riot Fest in Chicago on September 22, and played many classic songs and rarities like ‘213’ and ‘Reborn.’
Danny Wimmer, from festival organizer Danny Wimmer Presents, said, “We can’t wait to welcome fans back to finish what we started this year and celebrate the return of Slayer. Our team is hard at work finalising an incredible lineup that we can’t wait to reveal this winter. It’s going to be epic, and we can’t wait to see everyone back in Louisville next September.”
Right before the announcement, Gary Holt gave the green light to extend the reunion plans in an interview. “It was amazing. It was surreal. It was like this moment,” the rocker said of their previous shows. “The crowd was just very happy. And we were happy, and everything was good. And hopefully we’ll do some more.”
The promoters have shared refund details for ticket holders affected by the September 27 weather cancellation.
Single-day pass holders can choose a full refund or apply the amount as credit towards a 2025 pass. Weekend pass holders are eligible for a 25% refund of their 2024 pass price, or they can transfer that amount as credit towards a 2025 pass purchase.
