Gwen Stefani thinks returning to rock music with No Doubt is difficult.
Although No Doubt tried for years to reunite, they finally came together quickly for their Coachella performance. “It was like riding a bike – rehearsals were so fun,” the singer replied to NME when asked whether she quickly got back into No Doubt mode.
She continued, “Just getting up there on the first weekend [of Coachella], my legs felt like jelly because of all the energy from the crowd. It felt like everything we’d ever done was being rewarded in that moment with love. Like, I could cry now talking about it.”
“When that weekend was over, I was like, ‘I don’t want to do this again next weekend, because I don’t know how I can compete with that.’ But getting up there on the second weekend, it was a whole different kind of energy,” Stefani added.
The vocalist went on to explain, “The audience felt even more intense and I felt more confident. It was like ‘let’s just be in the moment’ and it was incredible. I’m sure we’re gonna do something again at some point. It just has to be the right thing that makes sense [with] all of our schedules.”
“It takes so much work to do a No Doubt thing – the rehearsals, everything. It’s really hard for me because – I know I keep saying it – but I have three kids. I don’t take that lightly; I don’t want to mess that up,” Gwen then revealed.
“It just happened so fast, and that’s my favorite kind of thing to happen. We haven’t really figured out the next steps of how we’re going to do this, but we’re just all so excited,” Stefani said before their Coachella show. “And I think really just watching the internet blow up [with] how excited that the fans are? It’s inspiring us.”
Later in June, Stefani’s return to ‘The Voice’ dashed hopes for a No Doubt reunion. She became a coach on season 26, along with Reba McEntire, Michael Bublé, and Snoop Dogg. Fans wanted No Doubt’s first tour in 12 years, but plans fell through, according to a source from the U.S. Sun. Insiders noted that No Doubt had thought about a tour after their Coachella performance.
