Deadpool & Wolverine fans had hoped that November would be the month that the Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman blockbuster would be coming to streaming on Disney+. While this seems a little overly hopeful considering the Marvel juggernaut only landed on VOD services at the beginning of October, and has only become available on physical media on October 22, Disney’s recent reveal of which titles are coming to the streaming platform in the next month proved to be a disappointment to that select group.
Deadpool & Wolverine has been the shot in the arm that the Marvel Cinematic Universe really needed after a lacklustre couple of years, which culminated with the humiliation of The Marvels almost a year ago. The film became the second highest grossing movie of the year with a record-breaking $1.3 billion box office, and delivered some of the most impressive reviews of any Marvel project for quite some time. However, there are many people who are now eagerly awaiting the film’s arrival on Disney+, where they will be able to watch it multiple times as part of their subscription.
In reality, it is likely that Marvel Studios will want to see Deadpool & Wolverine make a big an impact on Disney+ as it did in cinemas. While there has been much speculation about when the film could debut, it is hard to gauge this with any certainty. This year’s highest grossing movie, Inside Out 2, was released on Disney+ 103 days after hitting cinemas, while James Cameron’s behemoth Avatar: The Way of Water took 173 days to land after its $2 billion run at the box office in 2022. There is, however, one release date that Disney could chose to utilize to make it a real gift to fans.
When Will Deadpool & Wolverine Be on Disney+?
Deadpool & Wolverine would likely have been included in Disney+’s’ press release of titles to watch for arriving in November if it was coming within the next month. With the MCU movie not being included on this list, it seems that there is only one other date that could really make the film’s debut a big Disney+ event – a Christmas Day release.
Disney has not been well known for dropping new content on Christmas Day in the past, but other streamers certainly have used it before. In 2023, Netflix launched Ricky Gervais’ Armageddon stand-up special, and back in 2020, Warner Bros. released Wonder Woman 1984 on HBO Max amid the Covid pandemic. And let’s face it, who wouldn’t want to sit around the Christmas tree with the kids and your old nan watching Chris Evans recite that incredibly foul-mouthed monologue in the post credits scene?

Another reason why a December 25 release could be on the cards, is that this would mean the movie would be dropping 152 days after its theatrical debut – much longer than other MCU releases but less than that of the Avatar sequel. It is likely that by this time next month, we will finally know the truth about Deadpool & Wolverine’s actual Disney+ release date, but if it does land on Christmas Day, then remember where you heard it first.
