In a new interview with Music Interview Corner, Cradle Of Filth frontman Dani Filth talked about his experience with astral travel. When the discussion shifted to astral plane, the frontman said it was a way for him to get inspiration for songs and videos: “I do spend a lot of my time on the astral plane conversing with spirits getting inspiration for songs and videos.”
When asked if he astral travels, Filth responded, “Absolutely, I do it all the time. It’d be a lot easier than having a tour bus, to be honest. Think of your carbon footprint.”
The interviewer added that people could watch the band in the astral plane but he would have to teach them how to astral travel. “That’s very true, yeah. It’s a terrible idea, why did I even think of it,” the rocker replied.
The frontman also chatted about the band’s brand-new song, ‘Malignant Perfection.’ The song came out on October 22. “It was recorded in the Czech Republic and L.A. [The video] was directed by Vicente Cordero and featured the talents of, amongst others, Missy Munster, who was also responsible for the costumes and stage stuff for King Diamond and Slipknot and Ice Nine Kills,” the rocker explained. “And yeah, it’s the video for the first single from our new album. The new album will be out early next year. It’ll be the first of several singles. Yeah, it’s like a cinematic visual accompaniment to our first single. I can’t really describe it much more; you just have to go and watch it for yourselves.”
Cradle Of Filth has been actively working on their next studio album for a while. In an August 2023 interview with Metal Hammer, Filth revealed that the band began recording their 14th album in May.
The upcoming album will feature a collaboration with Ed Sheeran. The frontman described the song, saying, it will sound like ‘exactly how you can imagine,’ and that it has a bit of everything.
The new album is expected to arrive around March 2025.
