Spider-Man 4 will swing into theaters in July 2024, just two months after Avengers: Doomsday. Fans have been waiting for news of Spider-Man 4 since Spider-Man: No Way Home was released back in December 2021. After years of speculation, progress on the film has finally been made as Tom Holland recently confirmed the sequel is officially happening, with Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton attached to direct.
Variety reports that Sony has dated Spider-Man 4 for release on July 24, 2026, two months after the release of Avengers: Doomsday. The trade also notes that Spider-Man 4 is not the official title. Spider-Man 4 arriving two months after Avengers: Doomsday is very similar to how Spider-Man: Far From Home opened two months after Avengers: Endgame. The new Spider-Man sequel will be one of four MCU films released in 2026. Not only will Avengers: Doomsday open in theaters on May 1, but Marvel Studios currently has unknown films set for February 13 and November 6, 2026.
Fans will remember that the July 24, 2026 release date that Spider-Man 4 occupies was one that Marvel Studios and Disney previously held onto for an unknown title that they dropped from their schedule in August 2024. They seemingly gave up the spot to Sony Pictures and knew that the July 2026 release date would be Spider-Man‘s for quite some time. This last weekend in July has become highly coveted for Marvel Studios as Deadpool & Wolverine shattered box office records over that same weekend earlier this year. Marvel also has The Fantastic Four: First Steps dated for July 25, 2025.
2026 Is Tom Holland’s Year
While Spider-Man 4 is arriving just two months after Avengers: Doomsday, it is noteworthy that the movie will also open one week after Christopher Nolan’s mysterious new film at Universal Pictures, which will also star Tom Holland. That means Tom Holland will be in three of 2026’s biggest movies that summer, with two being released on back-to-back weekends. Both Nolan’s upcoming film and Spider-Man 4 will compete for IMAX screens.

While fans might be frustrated at another delay to Blade, it is good news for The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
Spider-Man 4‘s arrival in 2026 will mark nearly five years since Spider-Man: No Way Home opened in theaters and became a box office sensation. This is the longest live-action Spider-Man film franchise gap since the five-year gap between 2007’s Spider-Man 3 and 2012’s The Amazing Spider-Man. While Sony Pictures has tried to launch their own shared universe of films based on Spider-Man supporting characters and villains, including Morbius, Madame Web, the recently released Venom: The Last Dance, and the upcoming Kraven the Last Hunter, it has not worked well for the studio so far. With a release date now set, speculation turns to how exactly Spider-Man 4 will factor into Marvel’s Multiverse Saga and how coming out after Avengers: Doomsday will impact the next entry in the web-slinger’s saga.
