Corey Taylor changed the lyrics to ‘Vermilion’ from ‘She isn’t real, I can’t make her real’ to ‘She’s finally real, I just made her real’ during Slipknot’s Knotfest gig in Brazil.
A video of the moment went viral as fans linked the new lyrics to Taylor’s wife, Alicia Dove, whom he previously credited as a major support in his mental health journey.
Someone on X commented on the performance, “I’m just so happy to see him happy, he deserves it so much. Thank u, Alicia,” and the dancer wrote in response, “I swear to protect him always.”
More fans shared their support and happiness for the vocalist on Instagram with one saying, “Corey finally healed from his wounds! Proud of this dude,” Another person added, “Took him 20 years to make her real.”
Taylor married his wife Alicia in 2019 but remained open about his previous relationships over the years. He especially discussed his ‘toxic relationship’ with ex-wife Stephanie Luby, saying, “I won’t go into specifics, but it wasn’t a good time.”
In contrast, the singer often spoke positively about the role Alicia played in his mental health. After recently canceling his North American tour due to mental and physical health issues, he shared his gratitude for her by posting her photo and captioning it, “My Strength. My Life.”
Shortly after, he returned to the stage for shows across Southeast Asia. Now, Taylor is on a world tour with Slipknot, with their next stop scheduled for Knotfest Argentina on October 26.
