Stevie Nicks doesn’t think Fleetwood Mac will have a farewell tour.
“I dealt with Lindsey for as long as I could,” the singer told Rolling Stone about her interaction with Lindsey Buckingham during Christine McVie’s celebration of life. “You could not say that I did not give him more than 300 million chances.”
She replied with a simple ‘no’ about a possible Fleetwood Mac farewell tour. Stevie also added, “You know there is no more Fleetwood Mac now, because when Christine [McVie] died, Fleetwood Mac died. We cannot replace her.”
This is similar to the statement Nicks made this summer when she said, “Without Christine, no can do. There is no chance of putting Fleetwood Mac back together in any way. Without her, it just couldn’t work.”
On the other hand, Mick Fleetwood still hopes Fleetwood Mac can find peace. In a July interview with Mojo, he spoke about the long-running issues between Nicks and Buckingham, saying he wants them to finally work things out.
The rocker explained, “It’s no secret, it’s no title-tattle that there is a brick wall there emotionally. Stevie’s able to speak clearly about how she feels and doesn’t feel, as does Lindsey. But I’ll say, personally, I would love to see a healing between them – and that doesn’t have to take the shape of a tour, necessarily.”
“In a heartbeat, absolutely. If there’s more to come (from Fleetwood Mac), if there’s a way to heal that, that would be great,” Buckingham said on the Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend podcast. “It would be very appropriate to close on a more circular note.”
The singer continued, “I was in the band for almost 45 years and we were always – this is always part of our legacy – we were always able to work out our differences over things of which were far more profound than any issues that happened in 2018 with me departing the band. The band collectively allowing that to happen, maybe out of weakness to some degree, it disrespected the legacy we built.”
McVie passed away from a stroke in the hospital on November 30, 2022, at age 79. She had also been battling metastatic cancer. After her passing, Nicks expressed that McVie had been her closest friend.
