Prime Video’s Fallout series has a habit of impressing fans with its efficient, audience-friendly production. Season 1’s release date was moved forward twice from its original window, letting fans dive head first into the Wasteland far sooner than they were expecting. Many assumed they had to wait at least a year to hear news of Season 2’s production, but, thanks to Leslie Uggams, we now know that Fallout will be hitting our screens much sooner than first anticipated.
Speaking to Screen Rant at NYCC, Leslie Uggams revealed that Season 2 of Fallout will begin shooting next month (November), just seven months after Season 1 debuted on Prime Video. “We start November. I’m excited about it,” Uggams said. It is unclear how long production will last for the new season (or if there will be any unforeseen delays) but, if Season 2 follows the same schedule as the first one, expect it to hit streaming in late 2026. Season 1 began shooting in July 2022, and was released on Prime Video 21 months later in April 2024. However, Fallout Season 2 could see a faster turnaround, as the production team won’t have to spend as much time figuring out how to bring the Wasteland to life as the first season has given them a blueprint.
Set in a retro-futuristic apocalypse, Fallout takes place in an alternate version of Earth in the 23rd century. After resource wars between the USA and the Eastern Communist forces result in all-out nuclear annihilation in 2077, the show follows Lucy McLean (Ella Purnell), Maximus (Aaron Moten), and The Ghoul (Walton Goggins), three distinctly different survivors 200 years later. Based on the acclaimed video game franchise of the same name, Fallout was praised as one of the best video game adaptations of all time — a feat still tied with The Last of Us. Uggams plays Betty, the new overseer of Vault 33. In Season 1, Betty was a side character in the Vault, but Uggams promises a lot more from the ominous overseer in the new season. She teased:
“That is an amazing, amazing show. I am with the Vault People, so I didn’t get to see what the Earth people were doing. So when it came on, I was blown away.
But Betty’s got some things up her sleeve. Just stay tuned.
“
What to Expect in Fallout Season 2
Season 1 left fans with more questions than answers (in the best way possible). Where is Ghoul’s family? Are they even alive? Will Lucy lose her optimism? Could Maximus become a Brotherhood of Steel zealot? Did Fallout just retcon New Vegas? Ella Purnell, Aaron Moten, and Walton Goggins are all confirmed to return for Season 2. The season finale saw Lucy head off with the Ghoul in search of her father, Hank (Kyle MachLachlan). Season 2 is expected to pick up right where the first left off, with Lucy and The Ghoul venturing together, while Maximus was hailed as a hero by the Brotherhood of Steel.

Season 2 will also take audiences across the country. Much like the Fallout games, it is expected that each season of the show will take place in a new territory. The first season was primarily set in California. However, Fallout is now heading East to New Vegas — the eponymous setting of the best game in the franchise, Fallout: New Vegas.
