Tom Cruise is about to be back in action in a mysterious new film set to begin shooting soon. The Mission Impossible actor recently signed a contract deal with Warner Bros. Discovery to star in and produce original and franchise films. While some believe the agreement points to a possible ending of the Mission Impossible franchise, the contract has also opened new doors for the world-famous actor.
The first Cruise film of the contract, produced and directed by Birdman‘s Alejandro González Iñárritu, is set to begin filming in the U.K. as early as next month, according to Variety. Iñárritu co-wrote the script for the film in 2023 with the writers of Birdman, Nicolas Giacobone and Alexander Dinelaris, as well as screenwriter Sabina Berman. The upcoming Cruise-led film will be the first English language movie that the Mexican director has made since the 2015 drama The Revenant, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, which scored him an Academy Award for Best Directing in 2016.
While Warner Bros. has not yet set a start date for film, they have revealed some of the stellar cast, which includes Sandra Hüller (Anatomy of a Fall), John Goodman (The Big Lebowski), Michael Stuhlbarg (Call Me By Your Name), Jesse Plemons (Civil War) and Sophie Wilde (Talk To Me). The future is looking bright for Iñárritu as he sets up a star-studded film led by the legend himself, Tom Cruise.
New Warner Bros. Deal Will Not Stop Cruise From Living On The Edge
The 62-year-old actor is known in the film industry for his desire and determination to perform his characters’ death-defying stunts on camera. Just this year, the movie star performed a stunt at the Paris 2024 Olympics, and was recently seen hanging from a plane on the set of Mission Impossible 8. However, we don’t know if there will be any stunts performed during the shoot for Iñárritu’s next film.
