Fans of The Matrix may be surprised and/or depressed to realize it’s been a whole 25 years since the groundbreaking first film was released to the masses. What followed were some legitimate sequels, video games, and other franchise goodies that have kept the beloved universe alive and well in Hollywood all these years later. Sure, there’s Keanu Reeves as Neo who’s led the charge — but what about those equally scene-stealing supporting players? Carrie-Anne Moss has always been a fan-favorite as Trinity, the gun-wielding badass who helped bring Thomas Anderson to the real world.
MovieWeb caught up with Moss recently as her latest film Die Alone was released, another apocalypse-centered feature that sees her equipped with all sorts of weapons. She also weighed in on the future of The Matrix franchise since, following The Matix Reloaded and Revolutions, it was a hoot seeing her reteam with Reeves for Resurrections a few years ago. “I loved going back, and that was certainly a big surprise. I did not see that coming. So, I mean, who knows, you know? I don’t,” Moss told us, in thinking about what could be next for Trinity and Neo. “I kind of just take my life as it comes, and you just don’t ever know.”
Moss also confirmed that she’s still close with Reeves in “the real world” after all these years. “We’re good friends,” she said. “A lot of the moms at my daughter’s school are all in love with him. It’s so funny, so cute.”
Carrie-Anne Moss on Joining Die Alone and FUBAR with Arnold
While we await possible Matrix follow-ups, Moss steals the show in Die Alone, a zombie-like tale from writer-director Lowell Dean that sees her taking a young amnesiac (Douglas Smith) under her wing as they navigate a now-tumultuous society ravaged by a 28 Days Later-esque epidemic. If it all sounds familiar, just you wait for an epic conclusion that offers a juicy twist folks might not see coming. “With Lowell, at the ending, I remember saying to him, like, ‘I get what you’re doing, but it was so disturbing, you know, on the page,'” Moss told us. “And he said, ‘I really promise you that you’re going to love the ending.’ And I do love the ending — actually, really love the ending.”

For anyone who believes that Arnold Schwarzenegger is larger than life, Netflix series FUBAR’s World Record is all the proof needed.
Looking ahead, Moss will also be featured in the upcoming season of the Netflix series FUBAR opposite the one and only Arnold Schwarzenegger. “I just wrapped it a few weeks ago. It was the funnest job I’ve ever done. I had so much fun,” Moss said. “Arnold is such a pleasure to work with. He is so talented, so much fun to talk to, and everybody on that show, they’re all just so great. I enjoyed every minute of it and laughed so hard, and had so much fun doing it.”
From Quiver Distribution, Die Alone is now available in theaters, on demand, and on digital platforms like Vudu here.
