The actress shares daughter Coco Arquette, 20, with ex-husband David Arquette
didn’t initially understand why becoming an empty nester was such a big deal.
While speaking at the Inc. 5000 45th Annual Conference & Gala on Thursday, Oct. 17, the Friends star, 60, discussed what it was like to send her daughter , 20, off to college for the first time. Surprisingly, the actress didn’t find the transition too difficult at first.
“It’s weird because people get upset the first year your kid goes off to school and I was like, ‘What’s the big deal? She doesn’t talk to me anyway, she’s always in her room,’ ” Cox jokes.

“Then she comes home after her first year in college and she was all mature and talking more,” Cox continues. “And I mean, she’s incredible. She’s a really special, smart, funny kid.”
“But then I was like, I don’t want you to go back to college,” Cox admits, adding that after spending more time with Coco, “The second year was harder for me.”
