Season 2 of Castlevania: Nocturne is on the way from Netflix, but series director Samuel Deats is calling for your support to ensure the incredible show’s longevity. Fans were distraught when the original Castlevania animated series came to an end after its fourth season, rounding out the story of Trevor Belmont, Sypha Belnades, and Alucard. Thankfully, audiences weren’t left entirely abandoned, as Netflix released its first spin-off from the hit video game adaptation, titled Castlevania: Nocturne, in 2023. Although not as popular and beloved as the original, Nocturne still amassed decent viewing figures and was relatively popular among the fans.
For now, Castlevania: Nocturne‘s future is secure, with the upcoming second season almost complete. However, Season 3 is still an uncertainty, and Samuel Deats says the show’s future is entirely in the hands of the fan base. Taking to X (formerly Twitter) Deats began with an update on Season 2, saying:
“For those of you wondering, now that Castlevania: Nocturne S2 is mostly wrapped, we’re going on hiatus until release and we find out if we’re getting renewed.”
However, the director of the acclaimed animated series then lobbied for fans to show their support when Season 2 does drop on Netflix. Unlike some of the streamer’s other popular shows, which often have multiple seasons greenlit at once, Castlevania: Nocturne is being renewed on a season-by-season basis. It’s success inspired other hit animated shows on the streamer, like Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, Blue Eye Samurai, and Arcane. Deats said that, if fans want more shows like that, they need to turn up in force to support the projects that Netflix is releasing. The director wrote:
“It goes without saying, but if you want to see more shows of Castlevania quality, please support S2 when it releases!”
When Will Castlevania: Nocturne Season 2 Be Released?
Castlevania: Nocturne is set 300 years after the original series. The spin-off series follows Trevor Belmont’s distant descendant, Richter Belmont (Edward Blumei), as he battles vampires in 18th Century France at the dawn of the French Revolution. Season 1 ended on a major cliffhanger. While Richter and Maria Renard (Pixie Davies) were being chased by vampires and demons, the pair were unexpectedly saved by a familiar (and incredibly old) face. Season 1’s finale re-introduced Alucard to the series, sporting a more video game-accurate look.
