Director Matt Reeves and DP Greg Daniels created a visually stunning Gotham City in The Batman, but a fan has recreated the movie’s most iconic shot with a fraction of the budget. The movie is filled with dozens of memorable scenes, including The Riddler’s first kill, Batman escaping the GCPD, and Bruce Wayne’s monologue as he rides his motorcycle through Gotham City. But, the most memorable and beautiful sequence in the entire film is without a doubt Batman’s chase with Penguin. As The Dark Knight chases Oz Cobb through Gotham, he manages to flip the villain’s car, and walks like a badass through fire to interrogate him.
Indie filmmaker and YouTuber William H Baker, who is renowned for his low-budget recreations of iconic movie shots, set himself the Herculean task of remaking the beautiful image of Batman walking to Penguin. Framed upside down, the shot involves Batman walking away from the Batmobile, with fire blazing behind him, and rubble littering the Gotham highway. To recreate his own version, Baker needed a Batmobile, a Batsuit, fire, and a highway to shoot on.
Ingeniously, William H Baker utilized miniatures to achieve much of the background work. The Batmobile and the rubble were captured using small-scale replicas of the actual props. He then shot himself wearing a DIY Batsuit on a plain background. Finally, he made a worryingly large fire in his garage, filmed it, and composited all the elements together. All of the above sounds far easier than it was for William H Baker to achieve. On his channel, Baker has recreated several famous scenes from movies, including the famous Trinity test from Oppenheimer.
The Batman Part II Is Coming
While fans devour William H Baker’s incredible recreation of The Batman‘s chase scene, Matt Reeves is hard at work on the eagerly anticipated sequel. The Batman Part II‘s script has been completed by Reeves and co-writer Mattson Tomlin. Few details have been announced about the project. Robert Pattinson is expected to reprise his role as Batman (it wouldn’t be much of a movie without him), as is Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon. Barry Keoghan’s Joker and Colin Farrel’s Oz Cobb are also confirmed to appear in the film.

The biggest speculation online surrounds the movie’s villain. Reeves and Tomlinson are keeping the antagonist a closely guarded secret. However, Matt Reeves dispelled that rumor when he explained The Batman universe would avoid the Caped Crusader’s more “fantastical” villains. The consensus online is speculating that the Court of Owls will stand against Batman in the sequel. This rumor was further heightened by Reeves stating that The Batman Part II‘s villain will relate to the corruption in Gotham City that even Bruce Wayne couldn’t see. The Batman Part II hasn’t been given an official production start date, although it is currently scheduled to hit theaters on October 2, 2026. Meanwhile, Oz Cobb is currently wreaking havoc on the streets of Gotham in HBO’s The Penguin spin-off series.
