Jordan Peele, the horror filmmaker behind projects like Get Out, Us, and Nope, is currently in production of his next film, a horror feature, of course. But if you thought the comedian-turned-horror director was going to give away some details soon, you might be on the wrong track. He’s planning to keep everybody in “painful suspense” until he’s ready to share an update.
The director showed up on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, where he was asked about his future horror movie, which is set to be released in 2026. Per Deadline’s report, Fallon addressed the mysterious project saying: “Your next movie is listed as one of the most anticipated horror movies of 2026 — no one even knows what the premise is, no one knows who the cast is, no one even knows if it’s been shot already.” Peele got more cryptic about it, and with a huge smile on his face, he made fans more anxious by saying the following:
“Yes! Let the mystery swirl. You’re not getting anything out of me tonight, Jimmy!
What could it be? Where could it be? Who could it be? We know when. I’m gonna keep everybody in a painful suspense. Trust me, it’ll pay off.”

We’re taking a look at some of the best-written works like Nope, Us, The Twilight Zone, and more from mastermind Jordan Peele.
To segue the conversation towards a subject he’s actually allowed to talk about, Peele spewed out some details about an upcoming show he’s producing: A reboot of the reality horror/comedy show Scare Tactics. The show, which is airing on the USA Network and streaming on Peacock, follows average people going through horrific situations that resemble those of horror movie favorites. The director spoke of how he’s using the show to study people in scary situations:
“It’s hard to write a horror script because you’re always putting your main character in a situation that most people would just up and leave. And it’s hard to understand how people would keep themself in a scary situation.
Well, this show
Scare Tactics
, every day I would just watch it and you would see how real people will justify staying in creepy situations, and it’s so fun.”
Peele’s Funny Yet Spotless Ranking of Horror Favorites
During his short stay on the Jimmy Fallon show, Peele participated in a very entertaining game where he was able to prove his horror knowledge.
The game was called Blind Rank Horror Challenge, and in it, the director had to rank six horror movies. However, there was a catch: After showing him the first movie on TheShockNews, The Exorcist, Peele could rank it in any spot, from one to six. After that, he had to rank the other five, one after another, without knowing what came next. The surprise was when Peele put The Exorcist, which some call the best horror movie ever made, at number two. Care to guess what follows?
The final ranking of Jordan Peele’s Blind Rank Horror Challenge was the following:
- A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)
- The Exorcist (1973)
- Psycho (1960)
- The Shining (1980)
- Get Out (2017)
- Saw (2004)
