Imagine that galaxy far, far away complete with a live-action reunion between Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker during the Clone Wars. Well, that’s definitely one way the two iconic Star Wars characters could get back together after last being seen on the small screen during their conflict in the Disney+ series, Obi-Wan Kenobi. And while appearing at the L.A. Comic Con over the weekend, Obi-Wan actor Ewan McGregor revealed his cool concept for the Jedi and his hot-headed Padawan to return once more with the aid of de-aging. McGregor said (per IGN):
I’d quite like to wear that armor. I was speaking to someone earlier, from the Clone Wars. I think that would be something that I would enjoy.
McGregor took the stage in Los Angeles by greeting the massive audience with his typical, congenial Obi-Wan greeting, “Hello there.” And as those in attendance cheered the actor on, McGregor was visibly moved by their enthusiasm. “Bloody hell,” McGregor said. However, later when the event’s moderator asked if there was anything in the Star Wars universe McGregor would like to do that he hasn’t done yet, some more boisterous fans in the audience could be heard screaming out “Clone Wars” and “Obi-Wan Season 2.” McGregor laughed and then said:
Obi-Wan Season 2, hmmm. Yes.
McGregor also explained to the audience that he’s willing to undergo the de-aging process to portray the Clone Wars-era version of Obi-Wan in his Clone trooper armor as depicted so often in different Star Wars animated series. “And that way Hayden (Christensen) and I could really get back together again,” McGregor also revealed while in Los Angeles. And the crowd erupted with excitement at the thought of the Jedi and his tempestuous apprentice (Christensen) reuniting once again.
Ewan McGregor & Hayden Christensen’s Latest Reunion
For those diehards who can’t wait to see Ewan McGregor and co-star Hayden Christensen reunite, the actors behind Obi-Wan and Darth Vader respectively recently got back together in order to celebrate McGregor’s well-deserved star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. And Christensen made an incredibly moving speech to honor his colleague and friend, punctuated with a good-natured jibe at McGregor’s beard-stroking character. Christensen said of their first meeting on the set of Star Wars: Episode II — Attack of the Clones (per the WOF):
“He’s just beyond kind to me, and it was immediately apparent to me that I was meeting someone very special — and not just as an actor, but as a person — and that I was meeting a friend. A friend who would later go on to chop off both my legs and leave me for dead [McGregor and the crowd erupts with laughter] on the side of a volcano, but I guess I kind of had that coming.”

It was a fantastic ceremony, to be sure, but it left the fans only wanting more interactions between McGregor and Christensen. And that’s where the good news continues. Even before his appearance at this year’s L.A. Comic Con, McGregor already alluded to more Star Wars stories to tell where his version of the Jedi Master is concerned. However, the Star Wars actor also teased everyone with the fact that he and some of the powers-that-be have been “exploring” ideas which would have taken place after the Disney+ series, Obi-Wan Kenobi, but before Star Wars: Episode IV — A New Hope.
Right now, a possible reunion between McGregor and Christensen is as frozen in place as Han Solo was in Carbonite. But until something that monumental, like seeing Obi-Wan and Anakin Skywalker in the live-action Clone Wars together, comes to fruition, fans can stream or binge-watch all six episodes of the Obi-Wan Kenobi series on Disney+ at the time of this writing.
