Fashion’s biggest night out has come back around again. The 2024 Met Gala, a charity event for the Costume Institute at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, brought together the top names in fashion, film, music, business, and more, for an evening of unique and avant-garde ensembles. Co-chaired by Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny, Chris Hemsworth, and Anna Wintour, this year’s event was unlike any other, as the dress code, “The Garden of Time,” allowed A-listers to wear vintage and archival getups, floral gowns, and Princess-worthy looks galore.
Of course, a black-tie, fashion-forward event like the Met Gala always reveals a few wedding trends along the way, and this year’s soirée did not disappoint. Between dramatic trains, “something blue” dresses, and gowns with drop-waist silhouettes, among others, soon-to-weds can look to this fête for inspiration when searching for their own celebrity-approved big-day looks. To help with that search, we put together a round-up of all the wedding fashion trends spotted at the 2024 Met Gala. Keep scrolling for more.

Dramatic Trains
Dramatic trains were one of the most prominent wedding fashion trends spotted at this year’s 2024 Met Gala. Specifically, the Met steps proved why brides should continue to embrace this classic wedding dress detail, as the stars looked absolutely breathtaking in gowns that featured long and awe-inspiring trains. Need proof? Take a peek at the ensembles worn by Kylie Jenner, Madelyn Cline, and Jodie Turner-Smith.

Something Blue
We truly love the “something blue” gowns celebrities wore to this year’s Met Gala. It was a lovely nod to the wedding adage, “something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue, and a sixpence in your shoe.” Rachel Zegler shined in a Michael Kors getup that we can see brides wearing as a reception look, while Zendaya, in Maison Margiela Artisanal, and Sydney Sweeney, in Miu Miu, wore ensembles that could inspire those with daring bridal aesthetics.

Drop Waists
Drop-waist silhouettes were seen all over the Spring 2025 Bridal Fashion Week runways, and this design aesthetic also made a huge appearance at the 2024 Met Gala. This once vintage, now modern trend is one we predict many brides will embrace at their upcoming nuptials, especially since A-listers like Ariana Grande, Bruna Marquezine, and Amanda Seyfried all sported the silhouette.

Lapel Pins
Grooms, take note! Lapel pins were worn by several stars at this year’s Met Gala, and it’s a trend you can expect to see at many weddings in 2024 and beyond; they’re also a great boutonnière alternative that doubles as a keepsake. We love how Jack Harlow kept things simple with his pearl-adorned accessory, while Mike Faist and Adrien Brody went for a “more is more” approach with unique options.

Florals
Our favorite trend of the night? Florals! A fashion aesthetic that has dominated the wedding space for decades, we were excited to see the stars embrace bridal-inspired gowns that showcased an array of colorful floral designs. After all, the theme was “The Garden of Time.”

Ball Gown Silhouettes
This should come as no surprise, but ball gown silhouettes were among the top wedding fashion trends spotted on the red carpet. Between the lilac, off-the-shoulder H&M gown worn by Quannah Chasinghorse, the classic black and white Loewe getup donned by Ambika Mod, and the sumptuous Balenciaga ball gown Nicole Kidman sported, the stars channeled their inner “glam bride” when dressing for the 2024 Met Gala.

Sheer Designs
Many stars opted to wear barely-there ensembles at this year’s Met Gala, a major trend we saw during Spring 2025 Bridal Fashion Week. While this aesthetic isn’t for everyone, we can see some brides replicating a few red carpet looks for their own celebrations, like the designs worn by Greta Lee, Jennifer Lopez, and Phoebe Dynevor.

Discocore
Bridal discocore also made its way to the Met Gala, providing inspiration for brides-to-be on the hunt for a fun and flirty after-party look. Hari Nef, Venus Williams, and Kaia Gerber each donned gowns with iridescent details that are perfect for those hosting a retro post-wedding bash.
