While Jennifer Lopez officially called off her marriage to Ben Affleck earlier this week, the pop star likely won’t be returning her multimillion-dollar engagement ring to the movie star. After all, she didn’t give back the first one. Affleck initially proposed to the actress and singer in 2002 with a six-carat radiant-cut pink Harry Winston diamond surrounded by two white diamonds, estimated to be worth $2.5 million. When the duo ultimately called it quits a day before their planned nuptials in 2004, the entertainer kept the ring. Her choice wasn’t surprising even then: Lopez, who has been proposed to six times from five different partners, has reportedly kept each of the rings she received—even post-split, according to the Daily Mail. Those pricey jewels include ones given to her by Alex Rodriguez, Marc Anthony, and Ojani Noa.
Given this pattern, it’s fair to assume she’ll be adding her most recent ring from her soon-to-be-ex-husband to her expensive collection, especially since the couple didn’t have a prenup, according to NBC News. The proud Boston native proposed to Lopez for the second time on April 8, 2022, after the celebrity duo rekindled their flame in the spring of 2021. This time around, Affleck popped the question with a green diamond on a platinum band with two half-moon-shaped diamonds around it, estimated to be worth $5.6 million.
The inside of the band also contained an engraved personalized message from the Good Will Hunting actor. “It says ‘not.going.anywhere.,’ where the first diamond ring he gave me, the pink diamond ring, it said ‘sing,’” Lopez said in an interview with Zane Lowe for Apple Music. “This one he put ‘not.going.anywhere.’ because that’s how would sign his email when we started talking again.”
The famous duo celebrated their recoupling with two back-to-back weddings—one in Las Vegas on July 17, 2022, and another in Georgia on August 20, 2022. Exactly two years after that second celebration, the “Jenny from the Block” singer officially filed for divorce in Los Angeles, disclosing that the couple had been separated since April. That same day, the Argo director was spotted in California sans a wedding band, according to People.
Lopez’s complete collection of diamonds from former flames is estimated to be worth over $17 million. However, while Affleck is the only beau to have proposed to Lopez twice over the years—with two different multimillion-dollar rings—the pop star’s most expensive piece is from the father of her children, former husband Marc Anthony. The salsa artist proposed to the Maid in Manhattan star in 2004 with an eight-carat radiant-cut blue diamond with baguette-cut side stones. That ring is currently estimated to be worth $6.5 million.
