The 2024 Met Gala was one for the ages, but why should humans get to have all the fun? Luckily, dozens of dogs will get to strut their stuff in tailored-for-dog versions of the Met Gala’s top looks at the Pet Gala on the third Monday in May.
Anthony Rubio’s Pet Gala, aka Pet Fashion’s Biggest Night, will take place at the America Kennel Club’s Museum of the Dog on Monday, May 20. The ticketed event is open to the public and will include a fashion show featuring adoptable dogs and trained service dogs sporting Rubio’s recreations of the 2024 Met Gala’s best looks.
Rubio says he includes adoptable dogs to not only help find their forever homes but also spotlight the organizations that rescue them.
Here are ten Met Gala looks we hope to see reimagined on the Pet Gala’s 21-foot red carpet.
Amelia Grey’s Botanical Garden Skirt
Put a poodle in this skirt, and call that a poodle skirt.
Zendaya’s Elegant Train and Floral Headpiece
We’re never going to turn down a chance to see a dog in a hat.
Elle Fanning’s Icy Butterflies
This chilly fit would be perfect on a blue-eyed Siberian husky.
Cynthia Erivo’s Suit and Skirt Combo
No human is as regal as Cynthia, but maybe a Pet Gala pooch will give her a run for her money.
Doja Cat’s Towel Two-Piece
It doesn’t take any effort to picture a pug decked out in this terry ensemble.
Sydney Sweeney’s Black Bob and Ballgown
Yes, the wig is absolutely necessary. May we suggest a bichon frise for this Snow White homage?
Lil Nas X’s Cream Cowboy Couture
The playful Boykin spaniel’s dark fur is a natural complement to Lil Nas X’s cream-colored fit.
Jessica Biel’s Pink Petals
A coral, floral wonder such as Jessica’s would absolutely pop against a Vizla’s stunning caramel skin.
Keke Palmer’s Sky-High Pony and Sequins
No need for a wig; an Afghan hound’s hairdo rivals Keke’s ponytail just fine.
Cole Escola’s Met Debut and Dog Basket
Honestly, we would be okay if someone just stuck a Chihuahua in Cole’s dog basket.
