Billie Joe Armstrong encouraged Green Day fans to put their phones away during a live performance once again. The band shared a video of the moment on their official Instagram page.
“Let’s put the cell phones away! Let’s put ‘em away just for a while! Let’s be here right now! I swear to God, all of your friends are gonna believe you that you were at the ‘Green Day’ concert,” Armstrong told the crowd at their latest stop for ‘The Saviours Tour.’
“Bring ‘em out later. I don’t give a f*ck,” he added before singing along with fans.
The vocalist made a similar warning during another performance earlier this month as well. When Green Day got back on stage to sing ‘Longview’ following a temporary disturbance due to an unauthorized drone hovering over them, he asked the fans to put their phones away. “Pull ’em out later. Let’s be here right now,” he added.
Green Day didn’t give details on what exactly happened during that show, though they shared a statement on their Instagram Story to briefly explain it. Apparently, the stadium security had them leave the stage to deal with a ‘potential safety issue.’
The band is now looking to wrap up the 2024 leg of their tour with two more dates on September 28 and November 15. Then, they’ll kick off a series of 2025 dates, starting in South Africa on January 19.
