Ann Wilson talked about Heart’s future amid her ongoing cancer treatment.
“Hello, everybody. Ann Wilson here. Now I know lots of you have been wondering how I’ve been doing, so I thought it’d be best if you heard this straight from me,” the singer said in an audio message.
She continued, “I’m doing absolutely fine now, but it’s been, to put it mildly, a lot. Chemo is no joke. It takes a lot out of a person. And then there’s that two weeks of waiting around for test results, a form of mental torture. For anyone who’s been through that, I empathize big time.”
“Luckily for me, when the results finally came, they were the good kind, and so I’m excited to share with you that I’m now finished with chemo and I’m officially ready to get ready for the tour in 2025,” Wilson revealed. “There’s maintenance going forward, but I’m told the side effects are much less severe.”
The rocker added, “The worst is over and I’m thankful for the efficacy of this poison, but it’s more than welcome to get the f*ck out of my body now. I’m immensely grateful to everyone who prayed and sent me those good vibes. I’ve so felt your love. My story has a happy ending, due in part to early detection. My advice? Get checked regularly. I love you all, and I’ll see you very, very soon. There’s much to celebrate.”
Heart started the Royal Flush Tour earlier this year, their first big tour since 2019. Cheap Trick joined as support, and the tour was planned to last until late September. But after 20 shows, Ann’s health problems caused a delay.
Ann told fans she had surgery to remove cancer. Because of this, Heart had to cancel their summer 2024 European tour so Ann could recover from a routine but urgent medical procedure. In May, she apologized on social media and reassured fans she was doing fine.
“We did almost 20 shows on the Heart tour this [past] year,” Nancy Wilson told Ultimate Classic Rock last month. “We’re coming back out in February — we’re rescheduling [the shows and] they’re about to be announced.”
She also noted, “Going out on the stage again with my sister and with these great players, just kick a** players, was really uplifting. Really satisfying, super exciting, fulfilling.”
On September 23, Heart announced more 2025 dates for their Royal Flush tour in North America. The tour starts on February 28 in Las Vegas, with stops in Toronto on April 10, Connecticut on April 12, and Boston on April 13. It will end in New York City on April 16 at Radio City Music Hall.
