On Sunday, Sept. 8, the 49-year-old actress made her way to Canada for the world premiere of her latest project, . Jolie, who directed the war drama, turned heads in a silk, black Dolce & Gabbana gown with ruching details along the bottom.
She accessorized the simple, but elegant look with a pair of elbow-length, opera-style silk gloves that exuded old school glam. The filmmaker parted her long blonde hair down the middle, and let her classic gown speak for itself by opting against wearing any jewels for the event.
Jolie was joined by her for the premiere. Pax, who is recovering from a , wore a black suit and tie paired with dark shades on the red carpet. A scar was visible on his forehead, but he appeared to be in good spirits as he joined the audience in giving his mom and the film’s cast . The brooch Jolie wore on the red carpet (she also wears it in the film) was a 1972 Rose Ouvrante in the shape of a flower that features diamonds, emeralds, sapphires and rubies. The jewelry also has a special mechanism that makes the flower petals open and close.
“I was also charmed at how it transformed from a closed flower that then blooms,” Jolie told Vogue. “I like to think it made her smile. The little secret in the piece.”
