If Adam West or Michael Keaton are your favorite actors to ever portray Batman, you’re in for a treat. McFarlane Toys has cowls based on the Batman TV series from the 1960s, Tim Burton;s 1989 Batman, and one based on the Batman: Knightfall comic from the 1990s all for sale. While they don’t release until November, fans can place their pre-orders now for around $14.99 each for their favorite of the trio from usual toy retailers.
Each cowl has a display pedestal and stands about seven inches tall, the Knightfall one comes in a little taller at 7 and 3/5 inches, so there’s no need to worry about them taking up a ton of space either. If these smaller replicas are not your thing, then there is another option, although it is a little harder to get your hands on right now.
While the smaller cowls represent a nice way to show off your fandom without breaking the bank, there’s a full-sized option based on the ’89 Batman cowl available for $159.99. While this is more expensive than picking up all three of the aforementioned cowls, this one comes in at 24.5 inches tall, making it the real deal. Pre-orders for this one are sold out at many retailers, but it is likely that there will be some canceled orders that could allow you to snap one up before the November shipping date.
What’s the Latest With the DCU Batman?
Michael Keaton appeared in 2023’s The Flash directed by Andy Muschetti, but it wasn’t enough to make the movie a hit with audiences. Keaton is now unlikely to reprise that role again, and Batman is being recast once again in James Gunn’s DC universe. Muschetti is sticking with superheroes and will be directing the DCU’s Batman film, The Brave and the Bold. As of right now, there’s no movement on which actor will don the cowl next, so it’s a waiting game for fans looking for their next Caped Crusader. Meanwhile, Robert Pattinson is still returning in the sequel to Matt Reeves’ The Batman, but there’s no connection between that universe and Gunn’s.
The character of Batman has undergone many changes and been portrayed by many actors. Everyone has their favorite, and there are always plenty of debates to participate in when it comes to who wears the cape and cowl best. From West to Pattinson, and whoever comes next, it is almost unimaginable to think of a time when Batman will not be big business in the world of movies and television – even though Batman & Robin did try to put him in his cinematic grave. Now, the Caped Crusader is back on the top of his game, and with two different Batmen carrying the live-action torch in the coming years, and several animated projects also being developed, fans will be spoiled for choice when it comes to new Batman content.
