Green Day stopped their recent Detroit show and left the stage out of fear.
The band is celebrating 30 years of their album ‘Dookie,’ but their concert in Detroit was interrupted when a drone flew into the show. During their fifth song, ‘Longview,’ the band was quickly taken off stage by crew members.
After a 10-minute break, they came back and finished their 37-song set. “There was an individual that flew a drone into the Comerica Park,” the Detroit Police Department told Fox News. “Green Day was on stage at the time. They were escorted off the stage.”
Police confirmed they held the person outside but didn’t reveal their name. “This was actually kinda scary,” said H3aven._was_fu11 on YouTube, who was at the concert.”What I saw was (I was watching the big screen, not paying attention to the actual band for a second) Billie looked over scared, then ran off and they all zoomed off on the golf carts.”
“Dude, I was there,” noted TheGayGinger. “Nearly had a heart attack when they got ripped off stage and zoomed off, only to look in the sky and see a fricking drone.”
“Based on how quickly they were taken off stage, it was obvious that security had trained for this scenario before and the band knew what to do too,” explained jeepmansv. “It is sad that bands have to evacuate from the stage, but that is today’s world.”
The case has been sent to the FAA, which sets rules for drone use in the US. Green Day’s next show on their Saviors Tour is at Germania Insurance Amphitheater in Austin, Texas on September 10. They will also perform in Arlington, Los Angeles, Phoenix, and San Francisco for the rest of this month.
