The news of Good Omens’ renewal for a third and final season came last December, and while it felt like there was still enough time for fans to say goodbye to their beloved characters, the conclusion of Season 2 only brought reality closer. Now, Michael Sheen, who plays the angel Aziraphale in the series, is fueling the anticipation by teasing what fans can expect from the final season.
In an interview with TV Insider, Sheen expressed his excitement for the upcoming season and emphasized his commitment to delivering a finale that will be a “satisfying experience” for fans. The actor will reunite with co-star David Tennant, who plays the demon Crowley in the Prime Video adaptation of Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman’s 1990 novel of the same name.
“It’s still in development, but obviously I’m very excited to work with David again, and I love that character. I’m very excited about it…
One of the extraordinary things about being a part of

is the audience, the fans, the fandom of it. You have to take it very seriously because people get really affected by it. And seeing how people reacted to the end of Season 2 was extraordinary. So yeah, I hope, and I’m sure, that Season 3 will be a satisfying experience for everyone.”
The story of Aziraphale and Crowley has kept us on our toes for two seasons and now that the development of the final season is underway, fans can trust Gaiman’s vision to stick the landing and conclude their overwhelming relationship.
Good Omens Team Reacts To Heartbreaking Season 2 Ending
Season 2 of Good Omens ended on a poignant note, leaving fans in a state of emotional devastation. We see Crowley insisting the two leave everything behind and spend the rest of their immortal lives together, but Aziraphale had other plans. He wanted to accept a new and comfortable job in heaven as the supreme archangel because it came with the promise that Crowley could be restored to full angelic status. Crowley declined the offer because he was still haunted by the memories of war between Heaven and Hell. They shared a heartbreaking kiss and parted ways.
Michael Sheen acknowledged the extraordinary weight of the Season 2 finale and responded to fans’ reactions with an “I know, I know.” David Tennant, who plays Crowley also shared his thoughts on the finale, linking it to the excitement of what’s to come. During a panel at Florida Supercon 2024 last month, he revealed:
“I know where it’s going, and I defy anyone not to think that it’s the perfect ending. I’m not giving very much away with that. I’m not saying whether that’s good, bad, or indifferent, but it’s definitely perfect.”
Additionally, Neil Gaiman, the co-creator of Good Omens, has also set the stage for the final season by looking back in time to when he and Pratchett first plotted the story.
“I’m so happy finally to be able to finish the story Terry and I plotted in 1989 and in 2006. Terry was determined that if we made Good Omens for television, we could take the story all the way to the end. Season One was all about averting Armageddon, dangerous prophecies, and the End of the World. Season Two was sweet and gentle, although it may have ended less joyfully than a certain Angel and Demon might have hoped. Now, in Season Three, we will deal once more with the end of the world. The plans for Armageddon are going wrong. Only Crowley and Aziraphale working together can hope to put it right. And they aren’t talking.”
Gaiman’s comments suggested a dramatic conclusion, but the fate of Aziraphale and Crowley’s story is still hanging in the balance.
